Dajiao

Dajiao,(hanzi: 打醮, 'jiao' meaning 'worshipping the gods'[1]) called the Taiping Qingjiao or Taipingqingjiao in Hong Kong, (hanzi: 太平清醮; lit. "the Purest Sacrifice Celebrated for Great Peace") is a Taoist ritual and festival which is performed every year.

The ritual is for asking the Taoist deities peace and rest in that area. Pak Tai is a common Chinese god for this festival. Believers must eat vegetarian at the festival. It is performed in the Chinese provinces: Sichuan, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong and Hong Kong.

The festival name is transliterated as Tai Ping Ching Chiu from Cantonese. Some of these festivals are called Da Jiu Festival, a famous one of which is the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, which is held annually at Cheung Chau.
